Durham County Library Launches Summer of Learning 2021

Durham, NC — Durham County Library’s Summer of Learning 2021 begins June 14 and ends July 30. Join us this summer for activities, prize drawings, and of course, reading! Anyone is welcome to participate – we have programs available for all ages.

In this year’s program, participants can earn points by reading or completing activities such as attending a virtual library program or trying an experiment at home. Learn more about eligible activities here. Points can only be earned between June 14 and July 30, 2021.

There are two different ways participants can join and keep track of points. We offer an online tracker through Beanstack, which allows users to track reading minutes and activity points online. There is also a Beanstack app available to make logging more convenient. Learn more at Beanstack here.

Participants also have the option to pick up a paper tracker at the library or download and print their own. We have different trackers available for children, teens, and adults in English and Spanish. Participants can color in the shapes to record reading minutes and activities. When complete, the paper tracker can be turned in to a library staff member at one of our locations to enter the prize drawing.

This summer, we are proud to partner with Book Harvest to provide free book bundles to pre-K through tween participants. Visit your local library to get your books after registering online or picking up a paper tracker. One book bundle will be provided per participant, while supplies last.

In partnership with Durham Public Schools, meals will be available at the library for anyone ages 18 and under this summer. The following is the schedule for meal distribution at library locations:
